Have you wondering what happened to your internet the other day?

Well I was in my yard, digging a hole to put a post in and hit something. I didn't think much of it, except the shovel had a bit of trouble. So we reversed the Backhoe over, and started digging through.

You wouldn't beleive what we brought up!

Congratulations to the drivers who past me in the school zone.
The 40Kph area is there for a reason. Safety. Safety of children who go to school.
The fact that I was already travelling at 40kph should have dissuaded you from attempting to pass me and cut into my lane simply to get one car length ahead.

For you I will gladly allow you to bury your car into my shiny clean plastic of my modern and safe VW Golf.
Then I will gladly explain to the insurer whilst I drove at exactly 40kph as I had my cruise control set, yet you drove so close to my rear that I couldn't see the radiator on your Land Rover, let alone the number plate. And how you sped up to over take me, passing the speed limit, and then attempted to reenter my lane without utilising your indicators.
While I waited for the speed limit to change at the end of the 40kph zone, before accelerating, only to find dangerously on my right side.

You sir, are a bloody Idiot!

I seriously think felt an earthquake in Melbourne about 5 minutes ago.

It was disturbing to feel something like that here in Australia, considering I was in Japan when the a 6.8 earthquake hit in July 2007, rupturing a Nuclear power plant.
We were in Tokyo at the time, and this felt almost as strong.

Subject: Fuel usage and hybrids
Security: Public
Mood:confused confused

I decided to look at my fuel consumption and see how it compares against some of these new fangled gas/electric hybrids.

Now, for the facts:
I drive a 2006 Volkswagan Golf 2.0 Litre TDI, Manual.  That's a Turbo Diesel.

I drive approximately 26.40 Kilometres (16.4 Miles) every day to work.  This inclues 29 sets of traffic lights.
I don't do regular freeway drives or go to the country, so my fuel usage is high.

My car has a build in computer that measures the consumption and tells me what it is for the last 1000 kilometres approximately.
And it says I'm using 5.7 litires per 100 kilometres.

As most articles talk in Gallons(US) per Mile, I've done the conversion.
5.7 litres per 100km.
1.5 Gallons per 62.4 Miles
or.  41.27 Miles per Gallon (US).

Now, how this stacks up against, say the Prius.

According the this article here ( http://editorial.autos.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=834454 )
The Standard Prius Touring (1.5L Inline 4), uses 34 mpg in city traffic.

Now, unless my conversion calculation is wrong, WTF is everybody going on about with hybrids?  How the hell is it more fuel efficient than my diesel?
Not only is my engine bigger, I probably drive it a little fast off at the lights, and ITS MORE EFFICIENT?

Subject: Windows updates

Microsoft are very prompt at getting out security updates when there's an issue.
They're also good at not destroying computers with their updates and causing thousands of dollars of damage (unlike Apple).

But they could at least make sure their updates don't remove firewall exceptions.

My website was down, since "I don't know when". But now it's working again.

<roll's eyes>

On another note.
My left eye started watering for unknown reason back in September. After putting up with it watering for no reason for a couple of months, I saw the GP.
He tried me on some sort of drops for infection. Then for hay fever which I've never had (never had an allergy either). None of that worked.
Then he referred me to an eye specialist, who thought my tear ducts were too small (I'm not sure how having too small tear ducts, would suddenly cause me to start just one eye tearing up for no reason).
He also noted I had rings in my eyes was were caused by high cholesterol. Of which I knew about for the past 6 years, and guess what. The rings don't disappear, even after you lower your cholesterol. He sent word back to my GP about it.
So I went into my GP last week and had a blood test. (I had the forethought to skip breakfast, as it was about the only reason the eye specialist would want to talk to the GP.)
So the nurse stuck a needle in my right arm, to take some blood, and I got this sharp pain in my wrist. It was pretty intense.
After telling the nurse, it went away, and she proceeded to take some blood.
That was all well and good.
That night however, I lifted something in my right hand, and I got shooting pains in my wrist.
All weekend, depending on how I move my arms, I get sensations in my wrist, sometimes sharp pains, depending on what I’m doing.
Not sure what the problem is. I'm guess however the nurse hit a nerve in my arm with the needle.

I wanted to post a new story I've been working on, onto FanFiction.net
It's been a while since I've actually posted anything on there, and was mildly totally dissapointed at what it does to formatting, characters and layout.

It strips it all!

They claim that bold and italics are supported in conversions from Open Office format.  If you have a heading, it strips them out anyhow.

$ symbols are taken out.
% symbols are taken out.
[ symbols.  I’ve been using the square brackets for thoughts for all stories I write, since I originally started in notepad and it didn't have italics.
< symbols.  These are best for Foley effects.  They don’t speak or talk.  They just are sound.
{ symbols.  Why anyone in their right mind would strip these out?  I use these for denoting other languages.  It gets tiresome to always explain what language a character is speaking in without an easy to use symbol.

Double line spaces: Used BETWEEN paragraphs to mark a change in scene.  This is used by every author known in existence to show a change.  Go read a book.  FF strips out all spaces between sentences.

Text Indent.  W3C Cascading Style Sheets has supported this since level 1.

I find the last two to be the most import when it comes to readability, especially when you have lots of text with long paragraphs.  Human eyes need to track across the screen, and if they don't have noticeable marking like an indent on the start of a paragraph, then they can lose track.

At the moment, this makes anything I want to upload, totally useless.  All the text is clumped together and has absolutely no flow.
So what can I do?  FF looks useless for posting REAL stories.

I would like to see this filter reunited with its owner.  Please, if you attended our party on that weekend, check your lens filters and make sure you aren't missing one.  There is the possibility it fell out of your camera bag, or rolled out of a doll bag during al the BJDs were brought out.

01. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Travelled north of the Equator.  Bought a house.

02. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Never made any before.  Started with my first one this year.

03. Did someone close to you give birth?
Nope.

04. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes.  My dear special Grandmother.

05. What countries did you visit?
Japan!  WHooHooo

06. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Airconditioning!

07. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
My Birthday!  I travelled to new and exicting places that very day.

08. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?
A house.  A house of our very own.

09. What was your biggest failure(s)?
No personal achievements.  Namely my stories.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
None.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Err... a house!?

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Ummm... pass.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Don't want to comment that here.  They might it.  Would depress me even more if I knew that.

14. Where did most of your money go?
err... House?

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Once again... House!

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Hare Hare Yukai - Suzumiya Haruhi ending theme.

26. What was the best book you read?
The Twelve Kingdoms: Sea of Shadows.
I'm not a big book person, as it tends to distract from writing.  Playing PC games does that better though.

This guy in Japan who gave me the spotlight during a theatre performance.

All the people I know have always remained close.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Kat.  From Intrepid Travel.  Our guide in Japan.

It's hot. It's so stinking hot, that my PC could probably make a decent tea. Not that I drink tea mind you.

No TV. (We have a large plasma, and whilst it generates heat, I don't feel that it's appropriate to kill my expensive toy by running it in this heat.)
No music either. (The Amp really does pump out the heat. Ugh.)
Laptop has been off most of the day, as I don't feel like cooking my legs.
I finished off my jigsaw puzzle last year (cough, as in yesterday).

So what does one do with one's time, when:

A. It's really hot 32+ degrees C.
B. It's a public holiday, and almost every shop is closed (except McDonald's and the like, and Coles [oh, the freezer section is the place to visit!])
C. Any electronics will just make more heat.
D. None of my friends have a decent AirCon.
E. I don't feel like visiting my parents even if they do have an AirCon.

Well, it's the faceup and body renewal time.

Bailey, my ElfDoll Sooah, is about 18 months old now. Her nose was getting shiny, due to clothes coming off, and going on over her face.
She had a bit of body blushing done 12 months ago also, and it's worn right off the nips. Not the best look, but Helene had the time, and the heat was just right to dry everything off without causing it to melt.

Here's Bailey's body after it was re-done. Mei Ling's (Soah) head is resting on it. Her body got a re-spray also to keep it going.

I have to finish my Fanfiction "らんま1/2: ばかのそうにゅう", this year.
(That's "Ranma 1/2: Baka Insertion" for people who can't read Japanese)

380,000 words written in 65 chapters, that I started way back on December 28th, 2002.
Not a word of it has been published, as I resolved when I started, not to publish it until it's finished.
I've got a fair amount to still go, but I've been procrastinating this last 2 years, so it's about time I got up off my proverbial behind and finished it.
